Upcoming Cell Series: Building Healthy Self for Lasting Relationships

In the 4 weeks while the EA Pulpit series touches on Family and Marriage, ONELife will be having 2 weeks of discussions on building a healthy self for lasting relationships in their cell meetings. It will be a DVD cum discussion approach.

Week of Feb 7-11 – “The Compulsion for Completion”

All of us have a tendency to shortcut to personal wholeness by looking to others to complete us. We think “If I find the right person, my life will be complete”. This discussion will look at what it means to develop personal wholeness

Week of Feb 14-18 – “Keeping Family ties from Pulling Strings’

Our biological families influenced the way we relate to others. How much do we bring them into our relationships? What should we change and what should we keep?

If you are a Young working adult in your 20s and early 30s and are not currently in any cell, you are welcome to visit one of the ONELife cells for this discussion series. Please go to the Cell Connection Counter today and sign up and one of the ONELife leader will get in touch with you.

And also a reminder that Relationship Conference “The Right Combination” is on Feb 26, 9am – 2pm. You can register online at http://elife.riverlife.org.sg/weblink/therightcombination/intro.htm or sign up at the Conference booth in the atrium.

Psalm 23 for the Workplace

Hi everyone,

Came across this interesting article which is a good reminder, especially to us in the Onelife zone in this phase of our lives.

PSALM 23 FOR THE WORKPLACE

The Lord is my real boss, and I shall not want.
He gives me peace, when chaos is all around me.
He gently reminds me to pray and do all things
without murmuring and complaining.

He reminds me that he is my source and not my job.
He restores my sanity everyday and guides my decisions that I might honor him in all that I do.

Even though I face absurd amounts of e-mails, system crashes, unrealistic deadlines, budget cutbacks, gossiping co-workers, discriminating supervisors and an aging body that doesn’t cooperate every morning, I still will not stop— for He is with me!
His presence, His peace, and His power will see me through.
He raises me up, even when they fail to promote me.

He claims me as His own, even when the company threatens to let me go.
His Faithfulness and love is better than any bonus check.

His retirement plan beats every insurance plan there is!
When it’s all said and done, I’ll be working for Him a whole lot longer and for that, I BLESS HIS NAME!!!!!!

ONELife Vision 2008

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, we had the ONELife Zonal Meeting where we met together as a zone and hear form our Zone Overseer, Chye Aik, share the vision for ONElife for 2008.

Here are some notes I have taken:

Objectives & Who We Are:
  • ONELife is a group of young adults who are just starting off on their careers, singles or going into relationship
  • ONELife believes that we have just ONE life; one life to live and give
  • This is also the time when we are in our prime and able to give of our time and energy to the work of extending God's kingdom
  • A time of building our lives on God's blueprint; growing in righteousness and living a God-honouring lifestyle
  • A time of reaching people, retaining, raising and releasing them to further the work of extending God's kingdom
Vision 2008
  • Aligned with church's vision for 2008: Strengthening the core
  • Strengthening at cell-level; meeting the needs of members e.g. through special cell nites
  • Strengthening at leadership level e.g. L-cell and mentoring
What about YOU?
  • Chye Aik shared with us MAPS on how we can be strengthened and grow spiritually too:
    • Mutuality: Connecting, sharing and edifying one another; e.g. not just receiving encouragement but also giving encouragement
    • Accountability: Helping one another to live God-honouring lifestyles
    • Priority: Understanding that spiritual growth and relationship with God takes commitment, amidst busy schedules and spiritual attacks
    • Service: Serving to build the body of Christ in various ways, with our God-given gift(s)
Our Cell Discussion:
  • What would you feel is the core in our cell? Some felt it is:
    • Accountability to God; our lifestyle
    • Relationships within the cell; edifying and encouraging one another
    • Direction our cell is heading; are we heading the same direction?
    • Commitment; priority given to God and spiritual growth
    • Personal responsibility for spiritual growth.
I have shared that we all need to take up responsibility for spiritual growth and not only rely on others to nourish us. We need to grow to see how God is at work in our lives, how real He is. Only then will we live God-honouring lifestyles, share edifying and encouraging relationships, head in the same direction as God leads and of course commit and give priority to growth with God
  • Which aspect(s) of MAPS would be critical in helping you to grow spiritually? Priortise them.
