Thanks for Hosting GSCC Pastors

Hello everyone,

Thanks to all who have helped us to host our first missionaries in our cell! :D big grin And Onelife 3 will continue to play host to all that God brings through our doors.

Group Photo with Pastor Raju & Pastor Tanda (+ Daniel who is humbly serving behind the scene taking the photo)

I hope that both Pastor Raju and Tanda has blessed you with their testimonies, and sometimes seeing the circumstances that they serve in and yet how their hearts burn fervently for God, it can be quite a humbling experience for me, who can lament over the slightest things. But there, they have to face with lack of resources, having to go on foot for 15km to share the gospel, face rejections and threats from people; actual dangers to their lives. Their heart to serve comes out of gratitude for God who has changed their lives. And we should continue to honor and keep all missionaries in prayers cause it can be a challenging task. God reminds us in 1 Tim 5:17-18 that we are to honor leaders "especially those whose work is preaching and teaching" (v17b); to these people, God says they are worthy of "double honor".

We all can have the privilege of being in God's presence because of our forefather missionaries who worked against all odds. And I believe that Pastors Raju and Tanda will not only come to be a great channel of blessing but will also raise many a great leaders. We are glad to have been a part of the learning journey of these pastors who are here to be trained and mentored. Like Elder Andrew mentioned, thanks for doing something for eternity.

Let's continue to pray for all our missionaries and as this week approach, there will also be more opportunities for you to find out more about missions at the mission night on 9 Mar (Fri), 8.15pm-10pm at Worship Centre and also on 11 Mar, 2pm @ Rooms 214, 215 as we hear from our own local Riverlife missionaries who are going to the field, how God has called them and the work they are going to do. I commend that to you and hope you will join us. I also comment to you to consider going together as a cell perhaps to India for mission trip for the next round.

Lastly, Pastors Raju and Tanda has invited us to their graduation from Tung Ling Bible School, on 22 Mar (Thu), 7.30pm at Bethesda Cathedral, 30 Chai Chee Street S468979. Anyone keen to go?

ONELife Vision 2008

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, we had the ONELife Zonal Meeting where we met together as a zone and hear form our Zone Overseer, Chye Aik, share the vision for ONElife for 2008.

Here are some notes I have taken:

Objectives & Who We Are:
  • ONELife is a group of young adults who are just starting off on their careers, singles or going into relationship
  • ONELife believes that we have just ONE life; one life to live and give
  • This is also the time when we are in our prime and able to give of our time and energy to the work of extending God's kingdom
  • A time of building our lives on God's blueprint; growing in righteousness and living a God-honouring lifestyle
  • A time of reaching people, retaining, raising and releasing them to further the work of extending God's kingdom
Vision 2008
  • Aligned with church's vision for 2008: Strengthening the core
  • Strengthening at cell-level; meeting the needs of members e.g. through special cell nites
  • Strengthening at leadership level e.g. L-cell and mentoring
What about YOU?
  • Chye Aik shared with us MAPS on how we can be strengthened and grow spiritually too:
    • Mutuality: Connecting, sharing and edifying one another; e.g. not just receiving encouragement but also giving encouragement
    • Accountability: Helping one another to live God-honouring lifestyles
    • Priority: Understanding that spiritual growth and relationship with God takes commitment, amidst busy schedules and spiritual attacks
    • Service: Serving to build the body of Christ in various ways, with our God-given gift(s)
Our Cell Discussion:
  • What would you feel is the core in our cell? Some felt it is:
    • Accountability to God; our lifestyle
    • Relationships within the cell; edifying and encouraging one another
    • Direction our cell is heading; are we heading the same direction?
    • Commitment; priority given to God and spiritual growth
    • Personal responsibility for spiritual growth.
I have shared that we all need to take up responsibility for spiritual growth and not only rely on others to nourish us. We need to grow to see how God is at work in our lives, how real He is. Only then will we live God-honouring lifestyles, share edifying and encouraging relationships, head in the same direction as God leads and of course commit and give priority to growth with God
  • Which aspect(s) of MAPS would be critical in helping you to grow spiritually? Priortise them.

Announcements

OK, just to round up a few CG stuff:
  1. Prayer Guide - I have taken copies of the Prayer Guide so those who do not have a copy can let me know.

  2. Pulpit Teaching on Prayer - We are currently on a 6-week pulpit teaching on prayer and coupled with the teaching, Riverlife is also participate in corporate fasting on every Wednesdays on 30 Jan, 6 Feb, 13 Feb, 27 Feb and also on 22 Feb (Fri) when we have our church-wide prayer meeting. You can find out more about fasting and choose the kind of fast you want to commit to. Remember it is not a ritual but it should be from the heart where we humble ourself before the Lord as we pray and present onto Him our supplications, confessions, thanksgiving and adoration.

  3. Prayer Hub - The prayer hub on the church website is also launched and you can visit the hub to (i) share your prayer reflections, (ii) share a prayer request or (iii) share an answered prayer. Just to ride on it, you can also post your prayer request on our CG Blog together with the prayer hub so we can pray for one another and keep everyone in our CG and our family and friends in spiritual covering.

  4. OneLife Combined Cell - 16 Feb @ Church (4-6pm). Please let me know if you cannot come. Programme for the OneLife combined cell will include vision casting and sharing by our ZO Chye Aik, combined cell session and also CNY get-together with the other brothers and sisters-in-christ.

  5. Cell Postponement - There will be no CG meeting on 8 Feb in view that it is the second day of Chinese New Year and some of us will be spending time to visit family and friends. Cell will resume on 15 Feb.

  6. Churchwide Prayer Meeting - This will be held on 22 Feb and as such, we will be having cell in church instead, with everyone else :)

  7. Worship - James have shared that it is not very environmentally friendly to always print our lyrics on small pieces of paper and most of the time, these are left behind or thrown away. I do agree and so, we are suggesting that, as the spirit leads and if you would like to share a song with the CG that week, please forward your lyrics to James Tan by Thursday 5pm so he can help to compile them. Ultimately, this will come together into a CG worship folder.

  8. KTV -OK, announcement announcement, we will be meeting for KTV on Sunday after second service. Meet at atrium and we will make our way there together and maybe buy lunch on the way :) Then we will sing to our hearts content from 2pm-7pm, followed by sumptuous dinner at Chinatown :)
Thank you everyone for helping and putting all these together :D

Nick Vujicic Outreach Service

Imagine having no hands
Imagine having no feet
Imagine how it would be like to live life?

Just as we are talking about having radical trust in God and hearing the brief sharing by Nick over the video, it's amazing how trust in God has helped him live life and be who he is today. I really cannot imagine being in his shoes and definitely, I believe that I will need a lot of faith and trust to continue with life. But in Nick's own words that "there are many times in our lives when we are looking for answers and we don't get it"... that "it is not as if one morning he woke up and have this confidence but it is a journey, it is character building". He had the willingness to let God use him.

I have uploaded the video to youtube (so if you have blogs, you can put it on your blogs and invite people to the event). Start praying for your friends and loved ones and invite them to the event. Pray for God to pave the way to ask and pray for salvation. I have included the e-Invite and the youtube video here. You can also visit the e-Invite on the church's website at http://elife.riverlife.org.sg/weblink/eInvites.aspx

KK's Farewell Gift

Hi everyone!

Thanks to all who have contributed to KK's farewell gift. Had managed to collect the tee-shirt in time to hand to her on Friday at the airport :) Special thanks to Sharon (some of you may know her, our former former cell leader :D) and her father for helping us to print the tee :)

Anyway, told KK that the XL tee is meant to encourage her so she can hang it in her room. Also made a CD containing the same design as a wallpaper and screensaver (to the tune of "Complete" which I think she likes). You can download it from here (83.7mb). Lastly, also included a "kungfu" manual notebook for her to write down her experiences :)
